Visitors to the Poland pavilion passed by a statue of King Jagiello, who united Lithuania and Poland and became king after marrying the queen of Poland in 1386. The king is depicted holding two swords taken from his foes at the pivotal Battle of Grunewald. The statue is now located in New York’s Central Park.

The main Japan pavilion, which resembled an ancient Shinto shrine, featured demonstrations of Japanese art and culture inside the building and in the surrounding gardens. In a sign of the wars raging overseas, the pavilion included the Formosa Tea Garden; the Chinese island, known today as Taiwan, was then under Japanese rule.
